At the risk of stroking Anthony Sava's ego I bring you his latest Steam Engine.

The Pennsylvania Railroad T1

Pennsy T1

The Pennsy T1 was in my opinion one of the finest looking streamlined steam engines to ride the rails. The T1 was the Pennsylvania's last steam passenger locomotive and one of their last eforts to buck the diesel trend and build a modern high performance steam locomotive. The engine fetured styling by famed industrial designer Raymond Lowey and a unique duplex drive. Though they were plagued by high maintenance costs and wheel slippage they were truly a sight to behold. Unfortunately the T1 lost its battle to the diesels before all the problems could be worked out and none made it into preservation. But they continue to capture the imagination to this day.

Anthony's model is the finest LEGO T1 I've seen yet. This is an engine I planing to build myself at some point and it will be hard to out do his efforts. All she needs now is a Broadway Limited string tied to her tail. You can see more including in progress build photos on Anthony's Flickr gallery.

Is there any possibility there will be instructions?
  • Caldwell  - WOW!!!!
    Mr. Sava,
I am a big fan of your work and I am absolutely amazed by your take on the Pennsy Duplex. This is one of my favorite locomotives, and I think it was done really well. I am looking forward to seeing more engines on Sava Railway's roster. :)
